Seven Wanted to Know

This year’s second Swiss Cup took us once again to MFG Falknis in the Sargans region—more specifically, very close to the Luziensteig. A beautiful, peaceful valley between the Principality of Liechtenstein and the canton of Graubünden.

Seven pilots were eager to see where they stood in the F3C category. The competition organizers and directors were already hard at work preparing when the first participants began to arrive. The competition began at 10 a.m. under

under cloudy skies. That was just right, because in full sunshine it becomes difficult to fly the model against the light. With seven participants, it was easy to complete two rounds by noon.

Around 12:00 p.m., the sausages and sides were ready, and everyone could take a well-deserved lunch break. Everything was once again perfectly organized. A very heartfelt thank you to the hosts, who welcomed us with open arms.

At 1:30 p.m., the starting signal was given for the final round, and the pilots executed beautifully executed

figures were flown. This was also reflected in the standings, which were led by Josef Bärtschi.

The new rules, which were finalized just last year, allow each participant to freely choose which maneuvers they’ll perform from the maneuver catalog and present to the judges. This creates a relaxed flying atmosphere and also leaves plenty of time for good conversations and sharing ideas among participants. In short, it was once again a very pleasant gathering among like-minded people. In any case, all the planes remained intact, and so the competition was able to conclude around 3:00 p.m.

As always, the “Pilot of the Day” was selected, and this time

it was Josef Bärtschi who received the trophy. He finished first in all three rounds and had also shown remarkable improvement since the last competition. Congratulations! Second and third place went to the two young competitors, Lucian Aeschlimann and Rico Marbach. Once again, all age groups were represented at this competition—from teenagers to retirees.

Last but not least, we’d like to thank everyone involved—the club, the organizers, the judges, and the pilots—and we hope to see you all again at the training day and next year.
