That's model flying

5
A New Medium for the Public

Diversity is both our strength and our weakness. Every dedicated model aviator knows this when trying to introduce our sport to a coworker, a boss, or a government official. On top of that, we’ve had virtually no public presence for a long time—in fact, we’ve almost been hiding.

Since the topic of the “EU Model Aircraft Act” is scheduled to be on the agenda during the fall session of the National Council and Council of States, it is of the utmost importance to be able to provide policymakers and government officials with something that offers an in-depth insight into our activities. Anyone who knows members of parliament and is looking to engage in conversation can use “Das ist Modellflug” to open doors and hearts.

The brochure will be useful not only at the national political level but also at the regional and local levels, in cantons and municipalities. I repeatedly find that even in the municipality where a flying field is located, members of authorities—such as schools, public safety, and building planning departments—are barely informed.

Model aviation clubs can obtain these brochures free of charge. For larger orders, postage will be charged. ■
