Three years ago, the SMV’s Electric Flight Commission decided to get involved in the indoor scene. After all, there are no indoor combustion-engine competitions—nor any mixed categories like those in F3A, for example. It was made clear from the outset that this would not be a cutthroat championship, but rather that the focus would be on fun and a playful spirit. Once again, the NOS region was responsible for organizing the event in collaboration with the Electric Flight Commission.

Switzerland's First Indoor Helicopter Competition

There are certainly more suitable venues for indoor flying than the JU Hall at the Aviation Museum. The aviation-themed environment is a perfect fit for the two indoor classes: E-Dance with fixed-wing aircraft and E-Ballet with helicopters. Indoor flying, as understood by the organizer, is a particularly emotional class; it’s all about freestyle and creativity and is deliberately not meant to be constrained by the rigid rules of F3P or F3C. So the models were cheerfully “danced” to the music, and the helicopter ballet was presented with plenty of imagination.
