Expert Meeting

An idea to explore and find a new way to get model aviation enthusiasts back on their feet in the middle of the winter break was put into action last January in Central Switzerland near Hünenberg.

The goal was to showcase small workshops and manufacturers of individual products that, for cost reasons, do not exhibit at large trade shows. In line with this concept, a so-called “experts’ meeting” was organized for the first time. Several small business owners—namely Leomotion GmbH, ECalc, ChocoFly, Baumberger-Tech with Stepcraft Systems, and Guido Patroncini with RC1 models and meticulously crafted retro replicas—responded to the call from Werner Glanzmann of GLARC-Modelle, the event’s organizer. The exhibition and

the presentations definitely had the feel of a trade show. Visitors came in large numbers and were not disappointed. The exhibitors showcased their own products, which visitors could view up close and even touch.

Many personal inquiries led to interesting conversations and, in some cases, to interest in purchasing. Last but not least, model aircraft enthusiasts met in a very informal setting where they could really talk shop. The organizer’s expectations were far exceeded. The basic concept was a huge hit and calls for a repeat next year. The event is likely to be expanded to include one or two innovations. A public call for entries will be issued in due course. ■
