F3A Swiss League: Second Round at MAC Seeland

At the end of August, the F3A aerobatics pilots gathered at MAC Seeland for the second round of the F3A Swiss League. The 18 participants were able to complete four preliminary rounds under ideal weather conditions at the airfield between Aarberg/Bargen and Siselen, which is perfectly suited for aerobatics. The top 6 from the preliminary rounds competed in two final rounds on Sunday, flying the more challenging F21 program. The members of MAC Seeland impressed everyone with their straightforward, friendly, and gracious hospitality—many thanks to all the volunteers.

The combined results of the two Swiss League competitions determined the final standings for the 2021 Swiss F3A Championships. The detailed standings can be found at <https://www.modellflug.ch/events.aspx?Event=5938&lang=DE>

The SMV’s F3A Technical Group would like to thank the organizing clubs, the officials (scorers, jury, competition evaluators), and the participating pilots for conducting the competitions in a fair and friendly manner. The winning trio of Sandro Matti,

Marc Rubin, and Reto Schumacher—who also make up the current national team—will represent Switzerland next August at the European Championships in Spain. In conclusion, it can be noted that despite restrictive pandemic regulations, a substantial program in the F3A category was once again carried out in Switzerland in 2021. In this context, it is worth mentioning the Sportflyers junior training program of the Northeast Swiss Model Flying Association (NOS), the associated Sportflyers competitions in the regional associations NWS, BOW, and NOS, the judge training sessions, and the hosting of the international F3A competition Coupe des Alpes in Reichenburg. Moving forward, the goal is to introduce talented juniors more closely to international F3A programs and to regularly recruit new judges for their demanding role.
