F3 Aerobatics Technical Commission Information Bulletin No. 1/2008

1. RCS Acrobatic Sailing Rules

Due to discrepancies that arose last year, the technical experts from the RCS-Akro division had once again revised the existing rules. These can be downloaded from the Internet at www.modellflug.ch/f3, under the “Rules” section.

2. Head Judge on our Expert Committee

After serving for six years as the national chief judge for the F3A division, Sigmund Beck from Liechtenstein left our technical committee at the end of 2007. Based on recommendations from within our own ranks, the first

meeting of the committee in the new year, a woman—Daniela Schmitter—was elected for the first time as the new national chief judge for F3A. All members of our committee wish Daniela much joy and satisfaction in her new role.

3. Rules for “RC F3A Aerobatic Models”

In these regulations, the author has incorporated the new FAI figure programs P 09 and F 09 (effective 2008/2009) and P 11 and F 11 (effective 2010/2011). At the same time, the “league system” has also been revised. The complete regulations will soon be available for download

available for download on the Internet at www.modellflug.ch/f3.

4. Proposal for the Northeast Model Aviation Region

A new format, intended to enhance the regional F3A competitions and combine the IRM and Swiss Championships into a single 2½-day Swiss Championship, was discussed in detail with the participating pilots and the members of our technical committee. The conclusion was that the majority of pilots wish to keep the “SWISS-LIGA” format as it is. At the request of pilots and committee members,

the idea of combining the “REGIONAL and IRM” programs and holding them on the same day was considered. The F3 Aerobatics Technical Commission has planned to launch this new format at the beginning of 2009.

5. The Point-Scoring System

The annual assignment of judges to all competitions—a process initiated by our experts in our committee—is becoming increasingly difficult for the categories “F3A Power Aerobatics”/“F3C Helicopter,” “RCS Acro” glider aerobatics, and “F3P Indoor” aerobatics. The current situation is such that some judges score at F3A competitions and

also for RCS Acro and now even for the new F3P Indoor category. These people are overwhelmed if they are expected to give their best at a competition almost every weekend. The F3C Helicopter category is also affected by the shortage of judges. That is why I am making a serious appeal to all members and model aviators affiliated with our association to give this matter some thought

and to recruit interested members among their peers in the clubs. Interested members can contact me at 062 212 47 20 or via email at rolf.weyermann@gmx.ch. We would like to thank everyone in advance for their efforts. The bottom line is that if we can no longer provide judges, a particular

or other competition may no longer be able to take place.

6. A Note from Us

The collaboration and teamwork among all the experts from the various divisions in my technical committee are working very well. Unfortunately, even here, members occasionally leave for various reasons. I would like to take this opportunity to call on all model aviators to

suitable candidates from the F3A powered aerobatics discipline by calling 062 212 47 20 or emailing rolf.weyermann@gmx.ch. This is because, at the end of 2008, two long-standing F3A experts will be leaving our technical committee. I would like to thank you in advance for your efforts and send my warmest regards.

The President:
Rolf Weyermann
