Anyone who might not have known or believed this yet could see for themselves at the ABM Center in Rosenberg. There, the Sulzer Winterthur Model Aircraft Club had set up an exhibition that offered an interesting overview of model aircraft construction.

Over 40 models, along with engines and other accessories, were on display and drew the audience in like a magnet. Even on opening day, the show was swamped with admirers of model-building—both young and old.

The model airplane exhibition included remote-controlled training, aerobatic, and speed models, gliders, lifelike models, and model helicopters. Two model kits were also on display, representing two different construction methods. On the one hand, there was a kit for a lifelike model constructed entirely of wood; on the other, a kit for an aerobatic model with a plastic fuselage and Styrofoam wings, representing a construction method that is particularly popular today.

Information panels explained the organization of the “Sulzer” model flying club, and

photo displays featured scenes from the group’s activities.

Technical topics were not neglected either; interested visitors could learn about engines, batteries, remote control, and electric flight, or obtain the information they needed at the information booth.

Special events livened up the exhibition; for example, every afternoon visitors could watch a group member build a model. On the two Wednesday afternoons, children were able to build a simple balsa glider for free. On the two Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, an air show featuring a helicopter and a hovercraft was also held.

On the last day of the exhibition, a flea market for model-making items was held, where anyone could trade or sell the model items they had brought along.
