New photorealistic flight scenes in HD quality for Aerofly Professional Deluxe

If you’ve always wanted to take off from a mountain and land in a valley in a model flight simulator with a photorealistic environment—here’s the good news: the wait is over. The author, a passionate model glider pilot and member of the Marbach Model Flying Club, has linked the flight scenery of the club’s airfield in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley with a slope-flying scenery located approximately 3 km away on the St. Anton near Oberegg (Appenzell Innerrhoden).

The new photo scenes for the Aerofly Professional Deluxe (AFPD) model flight simulator are now available as freeware for free download on the MFV Marbach club website (www.mfv-marbach.ch) or the author’s website (www.röbeli.ch).

The “MFV Marbach” airfield scenery and the “Oberegg” slope-flying scenery are described in more detail below, as they form the basis for the first freely available “Mountain and Valley” multi-pano scenery.

"MFV Marbach" Airfield Scenery

This is where you fly at the MFV Marbach model airfield. The Marbach Model Flying Club also provided the competition site for the first three Graupner Heli-Cups in Switzerland.

The scenery features various elements and many crash objects, such as a detailed safety net that can be flown behind, high-voltage towers and power lines, various trees, and wind strips. To replicate the shadow cast by the adjacent field and its crash characteristics as accurately as possible, the field was specifically created using a special 3D structure.

"Oberegg" Slope-Flying Scenery:

This slope is located at an elevation of approximately 1,080 meters above sea level in St. Anton near Oberegg. From here, you have a wonderful view—

A view of the St. Gallen Rhine Valley and nearby Vorarlberg. From up here, you can also see the MFV Marbach airfield.

In addition to various crash objects such as ski lift installations, huts, cows, etc., this scenery also features strips of forest that you can fly through. The slope has been recreated with as fine a texture as possible, offering a great slope-flying experience.

"Marbaregg" Multi-Pano Scene:

Since the location of the other scenery can be seen in both flight sceneries, the idea arose to connect the two locations. So the 3D data from the “MFV Marbach” and “Oberegg” sceneries were combined into a single unit, resulting in “Marbaregg” (Marb(ach) + (Ober)egg). “Marbaregg” is what’s known as a multi-pano scenery, meaning that while flying, you can switch between the two locations in Marbach and St. Anton/Oberegg. The

The first “mountain-and-valley” scenery for the AFPD was born. It is now possible to take off from the MFV-Marbach airfield and land at St. Anton in Oberegg—and, of course, vice versa. Due to the relatively long distance between the two scenery locations,

flying large-scale models is especially fun, and accordingly, takeoff points for large models have also been set up.

The Multi-Pano technique is made possible by the new AFPD add-ons “True Scale” or “Team Edition.” Installing at least one of these

add-ons is therefore a prerequisite for the photo scenes described above.

Since the existing scenes are being further developed and even more will be released this year (e.g., the Indoors scene at Seeparksaal Arbon), it’s worth checking out the club’s

website of the MFV Marbach (www.mfv-marbach.ch).
