OBITUARY: KURT MOSER

von Ueli von Niederhäusern
6

Our Kurt Moser was relieved of his suffering on December 29 and passed away peacefully. He was 80 years old and was a founding member of the MG Riggisberg.

Many in the model aviation community knew him; for many years, he was the host at the legendary helicopter gatherings. He wasn’t a competition pilot, nor was he the one who always flew the lowest or most spectacularly. We usually had to persuade him a bit to join our formation flying, but once he did, he’d pitch in there, too. In return, he was one of the most important people within the club—always there when helping hands were needed, always in a good mood; you never saw Kurt in a bad mood. We’ve lost an incredibly beloved club member, RI-13—a personality who leaves a huge void. You never heard even the slightest bad word said about him. When he had something to say at meetings, everyone listened; his words carried weight. When he had something to say at the airfield, people listened; his word was respected. We shared many wonderful hours together during flying vacations, at gliding camps, and at air shows, but also in our everyday flying lives. We are grateful for the many years we were able to spend with him. Even when he was already marked by his treacherous illness, he would often come to the airfield—I think this is where he felt at home. We were still making plans for new planes; he even finished building his last Venom, which his son Roger will now fly in. This loss hits us hard—I know it—and we’ll remember him for a long time to come, sharing stories about him; in our fond memories, he’ll always be with us in some way.
