No fewer than 21 competitors were registered for the 1st F3C Helicopter Friendly Meet, organized by the Courtelary Model Aircraft Club. Fortunately, the dreadful weather did not deter the brave and valiant pilots. Despite the cold, rain, and strong winds, 14 competitors took to the air for this competition, which took place at the Courtelary airfield. We should also mention among the brave the three judges: Messrs. P. Wartenweiler, P.-A. Jeanneret, and J.-Cl. Brechbühler, who did an excellent job. Given the poor weather conditions and to ensure the safety of both the competitors and the public, the organizers had selected five maneuvers from the National F3C program that could be performed in a headwind. These were: the hat, the horizontal “M,” the pilot’s circle, the vertical circle, and the landing. This choice proved to be very wise, as no incidents occurred throughout the day.

During the announcement of the results and the awards ceremony, the president of the Courtelary Model Aircraft Club, Mr. Albin Flückiger, warmly thanked the judges and competitors. This enjoyable event was the first of its kind, but certainly not the last!
