"Hey, it's Dino!"
The voice trails off

Our friend Dino passed away on that day in November, leaving a void in our hearts. We knew he was very ill, but whenever we called him, everything seemed fine, and he never complained.

Dino’s great passion was aviation in general, but model aircraft in particular. As early as the 1950s, he built small free-flight models. Much later, in 1979, he was one of the founding members of the Courtelary Model Aircraft Club and went on to become a cornerstone of the organization: He served in every department of the committee to

be named honorary president.

Dino also served as an international judge at major model-building competitions: He possessed extensive knowledge of everything

regarding the craftsmanship of a model aircraft compared to a full-scale one, from identification to registration. He introduced both beginners and others to the joys of model aviation. He had one favorite airplane in particular: the “Piper Cub.” He knew everything about it, from the number of rivets to the tires. We, as club members, benefited immensely from his advice.

Dino wasn’t very expressive about his feelings, but we knew he sought peace and serenity—especially in recent years when he’d come to recharge by visiting us at the field, sitting on a bench, and gazing at our magnificent fleet of model airplanes.

I’m sure you closed your eyes, Dino, on that registration number that was so dear to you: HB-OYM (oh, he loves me). That says it all—you made a good choice.

Bye, my friend—the thread isn’t severed; you’re just on the other side of the path. Your memory will remain etched in our hearts, and we’ll talk about you often.

To you, dear family, the Courtelary Model Aircraft Club once again offers its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy.

Words are meant for happiness; for sadness, there is only silence.

Goodbye, Dino.
