Pfäffikon City Council Approves CHF 1,000 for the Model Airplane Field
The daily and trade press is quite eager to jump on stories about disputes between model aircraft clubs and local authorities, to the point where one might get the impression that such problems are almost a daily occurrence—or at least quite frequent. While the municipality of Oetwil an der Limmat took the Dietikon model aircraft club to court, the municipal council of Pfäffikon, Zurich, decided to grant the club a contribution of 1,000 francs toward the expansion of the model airfield. Naturally, the Pfäffikon model aviators were very happy to accept the money, as funding for the expansion is still not secured (total cost: 14,000 francs). But the model aviators were even more pleased with the attitude behind this decision by the municipal council. It would be wonderful if we could publish further examples of positive cooperation between local authorities and model flying clubs in the next few issues of MFS. Please send us your positive experiences with municipalities and other authorities. No “doctoral theses”—just a few spontaneous lines and positive examples for your fellow model aviators. Thank you in advance.
