Climbing and Descending in Gliding, Too
The RC-FAKO is currently reviewing the proposal from the RC Gliding Working Group for a promotion and relegation system in Category F3B. This would ease the burden on the regional championships. The proposal is based on the existing regulations for RC aerobatics. The diagram by H. R. Schläpfer is provided for illustrative purposes. Model aircraft clubs in Region 5 are cordially invited to submit their comments; please contact Paul Pfenniger in Erlenbach or the regional chair so that your proposals and feedback can be represented at the Swiss FAKO. Written submissions must be received by the end of February 1978 at the latest.
The youngest contributor to our magazine is Roger Schibli (age 8). Actually, his following article, “One, Two, Three…,” which he even typed himself, was intended for his own model airplane magazine, which he has been publishing independently for some time now—so much so that his family is kept very busy making photocopies. It’s worth mentioning, however, that Roger has a family connection to the magazine, as he is Bruno Giezendanner’s little brother-in-law—no wonder!

One, two, three—that's how you get started
with flying...
So, how do you get started with flying? First, you should know what kind of plane to start with. You should start with an UHU—a small glider you can throw. Then you should buy a bigger one, but by then you should be 17 or 18. When you’re 19 or 20, you can buy a motorized plane, and once you’ve become a pro, you might be able to compete in a VM and maybe even invent a plane.
