What does the new year have in store?

Dear Reader,

Many of you are spending the winter months in the hobby room—maybe you’re working on a new project? Or perhaps you’re keeping your skills sharp by flying indoors in preparation for the new season.

The die-hards among us even fly their models outdoors in the snowy landscape during the winter.

Some of you can hardly wait for the new season—but patience is key!

In this issue’s feature on the Henschel Hs 123, the new owner’s patience has paid off.
Patience is a valuable companion for us model airplane pilots, even on a flying day with ideal conditions when everyone wants to fly. Sometimes we feel like we’re standing in line at the checkout counter while shopping. When conditions are very challenging and we have to wait until “the coast is clear,” it’s worth the wait—otherwise, we risk a longer hiatus until the model is repaired or even replaced.

Let’s not forget our partners at home, who need to be very patient with us until we crawl out of the hobby room or return from the model airfield.

I wish each of you the patience you’ll need for the new model flying season.

Markus Nussbaumer
