Region 3 F3B (Thermal)

The new rules place a wide range of demands on the pilots and their models. Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by about a third, which indicates the interest model aviators have in this competition format.

The weather was at its best, living up to the event’s name as the “Thermal Championship,” even though the thermal fields were occasionally blown away somewhat by the Bise wind. Under the leadership of Heinz Schläpfer, the organizers and their volunteers from MG Emmen managed the competition with flying colors. They deserve special praise for their meticulous preparation and the efficient execution of the competition.

The best performances in the individual disciplines were as follows: time 359.2 seconds, distance 1,950 meters, and speed 16.2 seconds. RG
