Five scoring flights in the Regional and Rookie categories—results announcement at 5:00 p.m.! That was the ambitious plan that competition director René Koblet shared with us during his welcome remarks on Saturday morning.

Of the 15 pilots who had traveled to the event, 13 had registered for the regional program and two for the rookie program. For the two tow pilots, this meant about 75 tows to an altitude of 500 meters!

The members of MG Winterthur had perfectly prepared the airfield for this first Interregional Championship of 2024. We began the first scoring flights at 9 a.m. and made swift progress. By lunchtime, we had already completed three rounds.

This efficient schedule was only possible thanks to the competent, professional competition management and the exemplary teamwork of all pilots and their helpers. Acro gliding is definitely a team sport! Despite the beautiful spring weather, the wind conditions weren’t always easy. Treacherous, unpredictable gusts often led to shaky approach flights and a few bumpy landings. After a delicious and hearty lunch, the competition resumed. The day culminated once again with the spectacular and impressive freestyle flights by the regional pilots. Shortly thereafter, René proceeded to announce the results. In addition to the overall rankings, the regional rankings were also read aloud, and awards and medals were presented.

A big thank you goes to MG Winterthur, which provided us with its wonderful airfield in excellent condition for this event, set up a great food stand, and treated us to all kinds of delicious food. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
