The IJMC is looking ahead to the 2013 World Championships in Switzerland!
The highly successful Jet World Masters in the U.S. are already a thing of the past, and the jet model flying world is now turning its attention to Switzerland, which will host the 10th Jet World Masters for radio-controlled scale jet models in 2013.
Following a spectacular presentation of the new host country by the president of the organizing committee, Yves Burkhardt, during the IJMC General Assembly in the U.S.—a presentation that, in the truest sense of the word, left no questions unanswered—the assembly’s unanimous vote was merely a formality.
Amid applause from pilots and spectators, Yves Burkhardt accepted the IJMC flag from Roger
Shipley, which will remain in the hands of our Swiss friends until September 1, 2013, as the official symbol of the next Jet World Masters.
For the IJMC—and all teams worldwide—there is already no doubt that we will experience one of the best Jet World Masters events there yet. Never before has a nation begun preparations for this major event so early and with such a high-caliber organizational team. The Meiringen military airfield in the Haslital valley, in the heart of Switzerland, is certainly an unprecedented setting for the Jet World Masters. In addition, this vacation region offers spectators from all over the world a family-friendly getaway and invites them to stay a little longer.

This event is already the talk of the town at all major jet-ski events in Europe, and I’m quite certain that not only the hotels but also the campgrounds in the Haslital will soon be fully booked. For the IJMC, however, this World Championship holds a very special significance, as it aims to demonstrate that a collaboration between the IJMC and the FAI/
CIAM as equal partners can be very successful. “Toward New Dimensions” is the theme of the 10th Jet World Masters for radio-controlled scale jet models, taking place from August 21 to September 1, 2013, in Switzerland—and the IJMC fully embraces this theme with great anticipation for an extraordinary highlight in 2013. ■
