Arbon Classics, May 2026

Once again this year, the Arbon Classics took place in the harbor area of Arbon on Lake Constance. In addition to vintage cars, motorcycles, steam engines, and military vehicles, this year’s event also featured aircraft from the Altenrhein Aviation Museum. The flights took off from the nearby Altenrhein airfield. The air show took place near Arbon on the shores of Lake Constance. The minimum flight altitude over the lake was 150 meters. The flights were correspondingly impressive.

It got off to a leisurely start with the Zeppelin flying by. This was followed by a solo demonstration by the legendary Boeing Stearman biplane, with a 9.60-meter wingspan and a Pratt & Whitney 9-cylinder radial engine producing 450 PS—that’s music to the ears.

In a league of its own is the Edge 540, an American aerobatic aircraft with a 7.45-meter wingspan and a 340-PS Lycoming engine. Painted entirely in metallic silver, it put on a spectacular show with sharp maneuvers over Lake Constance.

The leisurely Antonov An-2 made its laps over Lake Constance, its radial engine also producing a beautiful sound.

The highlight was undoubtedly the PC-7 Subito Team; the trio flew a very precise routine with low flybys, and the commentator—himself an experienced pilot—provided professional commentary throughout. The large crowd was visibly thrilled.

All in all, it was a successful event set against the unique backdrop of Lake Constance and the mountains in the distance. Not to mention, admission is free, and there are plenty of food stands available. The event comes highly recommended.
