Walk the path

Dear Reader

The Brazilian author Paulo Coelho is said to have once remarked: “Sometimes the path only becomes clear once you start walking it.” Of course, I don’t mean to compare myself to a bestselling author. However, when I think back to the beginning with “Modell Flugsport” 50 years ago, this statement couldn’t be more accurate. At that time, our model aviation community agreed that model aviation in Switzerland couldn’t have its own magazine. This was because several publications from Germany were making a strong push into the market. Thanks to the regional chairperson at the time and the entire board, we were at least able to send out a 4-page newsletter twice a year to our approximately 700 members. By 1973, it had grown to 16 pages—published several times a

year. Today, thanks to the far-sighted and trusting support of the MFS Foundation Board, it is my turn to train Markus Nussbaumer as deputy editor-in-chief. I look forward to further developing our collaboration, fully aware that we have not only chosen to take a path that is far from easy, but also that we bear a great responsibility. We are both grateful to our readership for their support and critical engagement. A magazine thrives not on the editorial team alone, but on all the numerous authors, photographers, and—above all—on the acceptance of our readership. For this, Markus and I would like to express our heartfelt thanks.
