F5B – The Fast Ones at MG Bern

For the high-speed F5B glider category, the tasks consist of distance flight, endurance flight, and landing. Pilots cannot simply fly recklessly—that is, waste energy—but must use the available energy of 1,750 W/min as efficiently as possible; otherwise, they risk significant point deductions. Because the FAKO-F5 decided to use this event as national championship training for the World Championships in Japan, it was possible to hold the competition on the grounds of the MG Bern before the summer break. Pilots and volunteers not only found a flying site exceptionally well-suited for F5B but also experienced warm hospitality with food and drinks. MG Bern deserves special recognition here.
