Showing by example still works
Twenty-six high school-aged participants and no fewer than 20 adult coaches took part in this year’s electric flight workshop organized by the NOS region at the Dübendorf Aviation Museum.

Once again, our hands-on youth programs demonstrate that, with our wealth of experience and knowledge, we can still inspire young people. Three days of intensive model-building, with expert guidance from our coaches, went off without a hitch. The 26 young aviators didn’t even want to take breaks. In two beginner groups, participants built PC-21s out of Depron and Graupner Canaries out of wood. The advanced group designed, sketched, and constructed their own Depron airplanes. All of them were completed. In between, there were a few short theory sessions. A tour of the JU-52 and computer-aided model flying complemented the three-day intensive program. The participants were given the addresses of model flying clubs near their homes, and the respective clubs received the names and addresses of the young people, enabling optimal networking—the cornerstone of our organization. Once again, our collaboration with a prominent organization like the Düben-dorf Aviation Museum proved to be a great success. With this program, our regional association has carved out an important niche, which was made possible only through the regional collaboration of experienced model builders and pilots. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to once again express our heartfelt thanks to all our dedicated volunteers.
