Construction Night 2018

(Editor’s note: “Construction Night” brings together builders who, based on the given theme, will build a vehicle that meets the specifications in a single night. Held under the theme of “weightlifting,” this 12th edition of the “Night of Construction” left a lasting impression on all of us due to the exceptional weather. Although the number of participants did not reach the infrastructure’s capacity limit, the mo-

The enthusiasm of the participants—whether experienced or beginners—exceeded all expectations: 13 builder-pilots assembled their models, each one very different from the others. Whether they were traditional frame-based designs, hot-wire-cut foam models, or other ingenious solutions, it still took an extra 30 minutes for everyone to finish. The challenge of lifting as much weight as possible with an airplane having a 1.50 m wingspan and a propeller no larger than 12" was no easy feat. Many results fell between 0.5 and 1 kg, with the exception of the top two: 2.1 kg for Magnus and 5.1 kg for Eric. Thus, the prize heads to GAM Romont to be up for grabs again next summer. An extraordinary outcome for this edition, featuring many models with outlandish designs. See you in early July 2019 for the next edition. ■
