Aus meiner Sicht

You know what I mean?

Dear model aviation enthusiasts
: It’s almost a law of nature that wherever there’s a lot of hard work, criticism is always to be expected. Often, envy, fear of losing power, or incompetence are at the root of it—especially when people lack their own ideas or are lagging behind. Those who put a lot of work and passion into organizations therefore cannot and should not expect nothing but approval or even support.

That’s understandable, though unfortunately it doesn’t always prevent frustration. Let’s take the not-so-simple example of mowing the lawn. For some of his fellow pilots, he’s starting too early—precisely when they’d have time to fly; for others, he’s starting too late, since the grass is too long for small wheels. How should he proceed? Should he change his plan—and in which direction? Instead of zigzagging or throwing in the towel, I recommend clear and straightforward action—including making adjustments. An Arabic proverb says: “The dogs bark, but the caravan moves on.” That means Christmas is already just around the corner. With that in mind, I wish everyone a restful holiday season and a great start to the new year. ■

Warm regards
