The Little Eagle Owl
Hardly any other beginner’s model has won as many fans around the globe as the little UHU has. It therefore seems only natural that the manufacturer would turn to this popular model and undertake a broad-based effort to modernize it and improve its performance. The little UHU has now become a highly sophisticated and versatile free-flight glider model with great potential for further development.
The model is equipped with a turn control system and a thermal brake that can be activated via a timer switch. Assembly is greatly simplified by the extensive prefabrication, and the functional, well-thought-out design details help prevent assembly errors. Particularly noteworthy are the fuselage half-shells, which are injection-molded from high-quality plastic, and the many small parts for the thermal brake and turn control.
The prefabricated fuselage halves are equipped with a lead chamber and feature pins for attaching the rubber rings used to secure the wing. Thanks to the pre-installed wing mount, the correct position for the wing is automatically ensured. In combination with the precision-milled counterpart on the wing, this ensures a perfectly consistent fit from launch to launch.
The horizontal stabilizer is also held in a defined position, though the angle difference relative to the wing can be adjusted using a screw. This allows for optimal flight performance by adapting to the prevailing weather conditions.
The thermal timer allows you to precisely set the time until the thermal brake is triggered. Thanks to the special bearing at the front pivot point, the horizontal stabilizer always folds exactly into the intended position. The easy-to-install turn control is triggered by the release of the launch line. You can set right or left turns, as well as adjust the diameter of the circle to be flown to be larger or smaller.
The launch hook features a sliding stop to adjust the attachment point for the launch ring. This allows the model to be adapted to prevailing wind conditions for the launch.
The bolts molded onto the fuselage are a practical aid for balancing the model.
Overall, “Der kleine UHU” is a competition model further developed according to the latest findings, featuring excellent flight characteristics, outstanding cornering performance, and absolutely safe high-launch behavior.
