GV of the Schwyz-Uri Model Aircraft Club

On Saturday, January 26, 2008, the Schwyz-Uri Model Aircraft Club held its 47th annual general meeting. About 25 members gathered at the Kreuz Restaurant in Altdorf.

Looking back, the past club year can be considered a success. Several members successfully participated in numerous regional and national competitions. A highlight for the club was the regional gliding competition RCS Hang, organized by the MG SZ-UR. The “potato salad story” will also be remembered as a “lasting memory.” This incident instantly made the model flying club arguably the best-known model flying club in Switzerland.

After serving on the board for about 20 years, Gery Pfyl of Brunnen stepped down. Andy Gasser was elected to the board to replace him for the Schwyz Model Airfield Resort.

Under the agenda item “Honors,” a heartfelt thank-you was extended to outgoing board member Gery Pfyl. In his brief speech, he explained that he had always found his work on the board to be a source of great fun and joy. He made special mention of his six years as club president as well as his role as chief organizer for last year’s gliding championship.

Toward the end of the general meeting, a decision was made regarding this year’s annual program. Numerous friendly fly-ins, competitions, and outings are on the packed annual schedule.

With the Uri Vacation Pass in fall 2008, young people will be introduced to the exciting hobby of model flying for the third time. For the first time, the event will take place in the afternoon. The program includes instructor-student sessions and flying on simulators, as well as gliding with the aid of tow winches and demonstration flights in all model aviation disciplines.
