Fighting noise pollution is all well and good, but there are limits!

We must acknowledge that our National Aero Club is making significant efforts to combat nuisances—and noise in particular—caused by light and recreational aviation as well as model aircraft. It recently sent a brochure titled “General Guidelines of the AéCS” to all its chapters, groups, and staff members.

Everyone has certainly studied this document with great care and concern.

For my part, however, I believe it contains one page too many: the last one, which deals with measures concerning hot-air ballooning. Isn’t it really an exaggeration to talk about noise problems with hot-air balloons,

whose burners are supposedly far too loud! So measures are going to be taken. Among those being considered, let’s note that hot-air balloon pilots will soon be subject to a binding code of honor!

When will it be the hang gliders’ turn? What on earth could we impose on them to ensure silence? Perhaps a ban on farting!
