Region BOW – “Retro Day” MG Burgdorf

On Sunday, June 21, I launched an internal, first-time attempt to organize a “Retro Day.” I wanted to give the members of MG Burgdorf another chance to dig out all that wonderful old stuff—some of which is still sitting around in basements and hobby rooms—and give it a breath of fresh air. I was curious to see what we’d be able to conjure up on the field

. It turned out to be a fantastic day; it’s amazing just how many great things our members still have lying around at home. From 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the field was actively used exclusively by the old models. We were fortunate that our member Beat, with his tow plane, was able to launch even the very beautiful—and in some cases large—gliders, so that everything on the field

was also released into the air. As is customary on such a day, there was a

member a “retro snack,” consisting of a “forest feast” (cervelat and a piece

Bread—thanks to COVID—and a non-alcoholic beverage. All of this was paid for out of the club’s funds. A total of 20 members were on the field, and each brought at least one or more models. The atmosphere on the field was also very friendly, and every model was admired. Thus, the first “Retro Day” was quite a success, and it’s clear that there continues to be a need for such gatherings. So I plan to organize another such event in the new year.

A big thank you to all the friends who came and, like me, enjoyed themselves. ■
