GAM 2000 Helicopter and Model Airplane Rally, August 22–23, Stabio
"It's the same thing every year," you might say. But the reality is a "little" different: when you arrive at the entrance to the square, a man wearing a mask is standing under a beach umbrella. On the table is a list for recording the names of those arriving.
This procedure, which everyone is certainly familiar with, did not prevent GAM 2000 from holding its annual helicopter meet, even with certain guidelines in place.
With beautiful summer weather and warm temperatures, flights took place continuously. There was the giant helicopter from Russia and highly detailed models—everything one could hope to see. A feast for the eyes—and a treat for the ears as well—were, of course, the jet engines; nor should the electric motors be overlooked, as they held their own in terms of power. Physical comfort was ensured by a staff running the refreshment stand and kitchen, serving delicious food and drinks—not to be missed.
Unfortunately, strict regulations in individual countries partially prevented our foreign friends from attending.
GAM 2000 dared to do something to foster a sense of leisure and friendship in these times of uncertainty and restrictions.
High praise and thanks. ■
