IGG Flatland Flying 2023

6

A hot weekend awaited us at MFG Hinwil. Nearly 40 model airplane pilots and IGG members didn’t want to miss this event. Some campers had already set up camp on Friday evening—some with just a tent and a sleeping bag. We were told the nights were chilly. The first flights until sunset were fantastic.

The first briefing took place on Saturday. A perfectly organized airfield with a waiting area, pilot’s booth, and tow field was ready for the first tow flights. A bit of crosswind added to the challenge.

Around noon, the MFG Hinwil grill was fired up, and a first get-together with some cool banter—well, given the heat—took place. Some were experiencing withdrawal symptoms and even flew with the electric tow plane over lunch.

which caused the heat index to rise. The thermals were fantastic. Many thanks to MFG Hinwil for hosting us. Thanks to the Power-Schlepp team for the tows. And thanks to all the pilots—thanks to the air traffic control team and your discipline, we were able to hold an event

were able to carry out without any hazards or accidents.

There was a lot going on this weekend, including Flying Circus, as well as other events and competitions. We’re glad that, despite the various events taking place this weekend, so many members were there and lived out the values of IGG Switzerland.
