International Air Show in Yverdon-les-Bains

The Journey Across the Röstigraben

What our friends in Yverdon have organized is truly remarkable.

The variety of model airplanes at this air show is unparalleled. The organizing committee, led by Alexandre Bonand, managed to bring together over 60 pilots, some flying very rare models. Pilots even traveled from England and neighboring countries. However, the vast majority of pilots came from Switzerland, with both French-speaking and German-speaking Switzerland represented by highly skilled participants.

The announcers provided low-key but professional commentary on the flight demonstrations from the sidelines. Each performance was a highlight in its own right.

The large crowd was a grateful audience that applauded enthusiastically. The model display area along a taxiway next to the main runway proved to be a very well-organized solution, ensuring that the model airplanes weren’t all crammed together in one spot.

The organizing committee succeeded in putting together a diverse program—

The C-36, piloted by Thomas Hoffmann and Markus Frey, made its first joint appearance at an air show.

To put it simply, there was at least one aircraft in the air at all times, and they knew how to balance the different flight categories, resulting in a very entertaining flight program. This air show thrilled every spectator and every pilot. The trip across the Röstigraben was definitely worth it!
