Introducing the Hinwil Model Aircraft Club

Our club was founded in 1931. We have about 90 members, including just under 20 juniors. Our airfield is located in Bossikon, between Hinwil and Wetzikon. We fly helicopters, gliders (both motorized and unmotorized), and powered aircraft with electric or internal combustion engines.

We are also strongly committed to promoting youth aviation and are thus able to encourage 2 to 4 new junior members each year to pursue this hobby with us at the club. The junior members usually meet on Wednesday afternoons or on weekends at our airfield. Through our partnership with the Youth and Leisure Foundation, we’re able to provide the juniors with high-quality equipment that will last for many years to come. After completing the beginner’s course, this equipment becomes 100% the property of the juniors. The juniors receive this package for 500 CHF. The value of the beginner’s package is over 1,000 CHF. After completing the beginner’s course, the juniors can fly independently with their own equipment at our field and receive a free one-year trial membership. In 2019, Remo Heer, a junior from our

youth program, became Swiss Champion in the F5J category (motorized gliding). He also competed in the World Championships in Slovakia. This year (2020), he’ll be competing in the European Championships in Hungary as well. We’re proud of our juniors and support them as best we can.

Supporting junior pilots is a rewarding and enjoyable endeavor, especially since it’s also crucial for the club’s continued existence in the future. We’re keeping at it. Are you interested?
