NOS Training Sessions 2020

Following a postponement due to the coronavirus, the juniors have begun their training as part of the NOS Training Pass program. This year, training will take place in two competition classes: Sportflyers = RC aerobatic models for juniors and beginners, and F5J = RC gliders of all levels. Additional classes may be added later. We hope the NOS Training Pass is also a fun way to train and thank everyone involved.

Following the NOS’s accession to the Zurich Sports Association (ZKS), clear structures in our youth programs have become essential. This is the only way we can benefit from ZKS funding. This also includes compensation for coaches. Sports associations that are very successful in youth programs—such as soccer or winter sports—place high demands on their junior athletes. In model aviation, for example, we are not accustomed to the coach always having the final say when it comes to technique and competition tactics. Without clear guidelines,

, practices and championships turn into an endless debate. It’s also always important to have a practice schedule and, ultimately, a commitment

to participate. A “come and go as you please” approach would spell the end of organized training.

A well-structured sports organization must also distinguish between and correctly name the various classes as well as the championship levels. FAI rules—for example, F3A- or

F3A-Advanced—are protected and include detailed rules. Unfortunately, associations tend to misuse these terms time and again. Designations such as F3A-FAI or F3A-Interregional, etc., are nonsense. The states and organizers are responsible for simpler aerobatic programs. Here, there are no limits to the imagination.
