PRIDE AND GOOD IDEAS

Dear Reader

As a model aviation enthusiast, many pilots are the proud owners of a model airplane based on an aircraft from the Pilatus factory in Stans. For a long time, the PC-6 and PC-7 were the big hits in model aviation; today, the PC-21 is a very common sight at model airfields. Several variants of this jet trainer are described in the cover story.

There are also models, for example, that do not correspond to any real-world aircraft. At the F3A European Championship in France, Matthias Bosshard interviewed multiple-time world champion Christophe Paysant-Le Roux about the development of a current F3A aerobatic model. This summer’s record-breaking temperatures didn’t stop numerous clubs from holding their air shows, organizing competitions, or organizing activities for young people. Open houses and summer camps—there’s a lot of passion behind these efforts. Good ideas are emerging here and there—take the MG Uster as a prime example. Perhaps we should still create some sort of “guide” to give the model flying clubs in the SMV a tool for attracting new members?

The editorial team hopes you’ll enjoy the wide range of topics in this issue and find plenty of motivation to put your good ideas into action.
