2010 F3A Challenge Cup hosted by the Breitenbach Model Flying Club

The 15th Challenge Cup was once again organized this year by the Breitenbach Model Flying Club. Due to the late date of the 2nd Swiss League competition, this friendly competition had to be rescheduled for October 23.

Despite the late date, the weather gods were kind to us and blessed us with bearable temperatures—no rain and no snow. Twenty-one pilots from all regions of Switzerland competed in the two categories, F3A and F3AX.

Judging was conducted by a panel of judges from the BOW, NOS, and NW regions. Two runs were completed, with the lower-scoring run being discarded for the final score. In the F3A category, Marc Rubin won ahead of Reto Schumacher and Jean Claude Spillmann. In the F3AX category, Patrick Drack won ahead of Dani Koch and Sandro Matti. A high level of competition was evident in both categories, with first place in the F3AX category even being decided by the better discarded result between Patrick and Dani.

As in previous years, this year’s competition featured the DMFV’s 2008 F3AX-B program. The program is roughly on par with the SMV’s IRM program in terms of difficulty, but is also very well suited for both classes. Our motto, “great sportsmanship in a friendly atmosphere,” has proven its worth over the years, and we’re sure to experience this same spirit again next year. The MG Breitenbach would like to thank everyone involved (scorers, pilots, and officials) and is already looking forward to the 16th Challenge Cup next year.
