Hello Bruno!

Our dear friend and fellow aviator Bruno Ferrari took his very last flight on March 22, 2023, following a brief illness.

Bruno had been a member of the Aero-Club since 1973 and joined the Model Flying Veterans in 2004. Bruno was an active member of various clubs: MG Zurich, Gruppe Albis, MG Grischei, IG Albatros, and IGG Switzerland, to name just the most important ones. As a result, he was well known among a large number of model aviation colleagues throughout Switzerland.

With Bruno’s passing, we have lost an excellent model builder and an outstanding model pilot. How often did he help aspiring model pilots with their first flights!

Bruno also mastered every discipline of model flying: two-axis vintage models, large gliders, speed gliders, motorized planes,

Seaplanes and, most recently, indoor models as well.

For many years, Bruno, together with Hans Fricker, was a regular in the top ranks at the Swiss Cup! He then spent a great deal of time flying on water together with Hanno Pfeiffer. Towed by H.J. Baum’s tow plane, they succeeded in the first large-scale glider tow on water (after he found it too easy with the Easy-Gleiter!).

Thanks to his extensive building experience and calm demeanor, Bruno provided valuable support for several years at the NOS youth courses “Young Silent Wings.”

With Bruno Ferrari’s passing, we and the entire model aviation community have lost a beloved person—and we will keep Bruno in our hearts.
