Sportflyers 2020
The regional aerobatics championships at MG Uster have almost become a tradition. At the club’s newly renovated airfield in Näikon, the event was twice as much fun. The club’s consistent efforts to promote junior athletes, both in aerobatics and in the electric glider class, are well underway. All juniors participating in the NOS training program took part in the Sportflyers competition in Näikon, and the juniors in the F5J group have registered for the Swiss Junior Championships in Geneva. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to the two dedicated coaches—Matthias Bosshard (aerobatics) and Andi Schwerzmann (F5J gliding)—as well as their assistants. One-day wonders or wannabe coaches have no place in youth work. What’s needed is continuity and building trust. Many thanks to the successful organizers at MG Uster. They knew how to create the right atmosphere—the catering played a key role—striking a balance between competitive sports and a relaxed, camaraderie-filled environment. ■
