MFG St. Burkhard Towing Day
Small but mighty!
Early in the morning, volunteers gathered at the well-prepared airfield in Isenbergenschwil to welcome guests from various regions. After the briefing, the 20 or so pilots, with tow planes and gliders of all sizes, were able to indulge in their hobby amid beautiful—though very warm—weather. The combustion-engine and electric tow planes skillfully pulled the gliders—some weighing over 20 kg—up into the air before releasing them into the thermals. Before the tow planes landed, the spectators were treated to a few short demonstration flights. The summer heat likely contributed to the fact that flying was limited; however, we made new connections, had good conversations about everything under the sun, enjoyed delicious food and drinks at fair prices, and also had time to talk shop. This is, after all, the whole point of the event and helps foster group cohesion. The day went smoothly, without stress or any mishaps. In the late afternoon, after a successful day with great flights, the guests were able to head home. Many thanks to the guest pilots for their discipline and to all the volunteers for their hard work!
The MFG St. Burkhard looks forward to repeating this event next year.
