The cable entry on the microservo
Servo manufacturers have no choice but to place the cable entry where the motor and electronics are located. To minimize installation depth, the location we’re familiar with from most brands has proven effective: the narrow side below a mounting tab. However, this isn’t always ideal for microservos.
Standard-size servos (20 mm) or larger are secured to two brackets with four screws; this ensures that the center cable entry is always positioned between two mounting points. The servo mount has a semicircular recess on the cable side, allowing the servo to be inserted vertically from above into the mount and secured with screws.
Micro servos (≤ 13 mm), on the other hand, are secured with only one screw per tab; the cable entry with a rubber grommet is thus located directly below the mounting point. Vertical insertion from above is only possible with a significantly extended cutout, but even the angled method shown in Fig. 1 requires a cutout that is considerably larger than the servo housing.
Conclusion: Space for the mounting holes in the bracket is limited, and the edge around the holes is weakened.

Actually, the problem would be solved if the connection cable came out at the bottom of the cover...
Well, it did take a bit of courage to use a file to cut a slot in the cover of a brand-new servo while it was still under warranty!

With the connection cable angled downward, the servo can be easily installed in the horizontal stabilizer (Figs. 3 and 4).

On the HS-85, the manufacturer-provided cable entry is ideally located at the bottom edge of the case, so that by extending the cutout in the case lid, we can create a flexible cable entry. To make the modification, simply loosen the four cover screws slightly. As shown in Fig. 5, the rubber grommet even partially covers the open slot in the housing!
Unfortunately, Hitec has since redesigned the servo cover and reinforced the corners—at the expense of the adjustable cable entry. But the modification is still possible.
