The Standard 10 is considered Graupner’s first remote control. Like the entire Standard series, it was manufactured by Klemm in Munich. Thanks to its chopper mode, the transmitter could be powered by a relatively inexpensive battery. However, the drawback of the chopper circuit is high power consumption and a heavy, bulky transmitter design. The vacuum tube dates back to the 1940s and is also known as a “Wehrmacht tube.” The receiver features a “magic eye” for easier tuning, a design also familiar from old radios. Its 5-watt output power is about 50 times higher than what is still permitted today.

The Standard 10 is one of the rarest systems in existence. Due to its large dimensions, it was not very practical and was quickly replaced by more portable transmitters. I would venture to say that only a handful of Standard 10 units remain in existence worldwide.
