Swiss F4C and Jet Scale Championships in Interlaken

While a thick blanket of fog still obscured the warming rays of the sun on Saturday, Sunday looked promising. So in the end, the day truly lived up to its name, “Sunday.”

Even though the COVID-19 restrictions limited our freedom here and there, the fog had, symbolically speaking, lifted a bit here as well, and there was a great sense of relief that a competition could finally take place again. The joy of being able to meet again was clearly palpable. Everyone had a lot to talk about. The ideal conditions drew not only model airplane pilots but also numerous spectators who watched the aerial displays in the sky.

New Faces

Very encouraging: Jean-Luc Zogg from MG Yverdon in the F4C category and Christoph Helbling from MAC Biel in the Jet Scale category were both making their debut at a Swiss championship. They both put up a valiant fight! New blood is good for the model aviation scene.

Toph Helbling from MAC Biel and two other participants in the Jet Scale category were competing in a Swiss championship for the first time. They both put up a valiant fight! New blood is good for the model aviation scene.

A big shout-out goes to MFG Interlaken, which put on a great

has made a great effort. With extremely hardworking members and volunteers, they organized a perfect championship.

As is well known, it’s quite difficult to find suitable facilities for such an event, which is why every club that takes the trouble to organize such a competition deserves great credit. A scale championship like this requires a suitable site with a sufficiently large flying area and a hard-surfaced runway.

We can look forward to 2022, when the next Swiss Championship is scheduled to take place in St. Stephan in September.
