New on the market: RC Delta "Komet" Model 2

2

Bruno Jegge in Bärswil has had a new Delta model in stock for a few weeks now, one that should appeal especially to beginners, but also to advanced model pilots. Until now, such fast triangular gliders could only be flown by experienced pilots. For beginners, this remained nothing more than a pipe dream until the release of the “Komet 2.”

In this model, the motor is mounted in the front. This makes takeoff easy. This redesigned “Komet 2,” with a wingspan of 1,080 mm, can be flown at both slow and fast speeds—but it is not a speed model. It made a good impression and attracted interest on the last flight day in Winterthur.

The kit is available in a very simple form from HA 77-Modellbau in Meilen or directly from me. Carefully selected materials, minimal weight variations in the spars, and precise detailed plans guarantee easy assembly.

The basic structure is made almost entirely of balsa wood. The wings are pre-cut from Styrofoam. The skin consists of 1.5 mm balsa boards, which ensure good stability. Assembly is relatively simple. At first, very few people are used to working on a triangular airframe. However, with a little manual dexterity, this shouldn’t pose any problems.

As mentioned, unlike many other models, this one features a 3.5 cm³ engine mounted at the front. These engines are barely audible in flight, and fuel consumption is also three to four times lower than that of a 10 cm³ engine. The “Komet 2” is controlled via 6 channels.

The wings are covered with iron-on film. Some caution is required when ironing the film on; a hair dryer is a better option.

The airfoil and lightweight construction do not allow this delta wing to be used as a speed model. The wings would not withstand excessive pressure.

It is advisable to build this model exactly according to the plans; then you will be sure of success.

Finally, I’d like to mention that the “Komet 2” is a very elegant-flying model that will always attract the attention of model builders.

Have fun and good luck flying! The designer.
