A greeting from the President of the SMV/AeCS
The Swiss Aeromodelling Federation extends a warm welcome to all 64 pilots, team managers and helpers from 22 countries all over the world to this model glider world championships F3B in Emmen and the preceding, two-day World Cup.
The entire organising committee and the Swiss Aeromodelling Federation SMV with its almost seven thousand members look forward to a challenging, exciting and sporting competition.
In the preparations for these FAI World Championships, held in front of the characteristic peak of the Pilatus mountain as the symbol of the Lucerne region, the organising committee members and their helpers have endeavoured to create the optimum environment for all participants and spectators. Sport offers the optimum way of uniting people irrespective of nationality, all over the world. May the peaks of the surrounding mountains motivate all those taking part to achieve top-class performances and yet still
allow them time for leisure, relaxation and good companionship.
The Swiss aeromodellers are proud to have the world's best pilots from the F3B glider community as their guests at Emmen airfield. As the home base of the Swiss Air Force aerobatics team «Patrouille Suisse» Emmen offers an exceptionally good location for precision flying.
Particular thanks are due to the many volunteer aeromodellers who have made a great contribution to the organisational success before, during and after the competitions through their enthusiastic help, as well as the seven regional federations of the Swiss Aeromodelling Federation for the financial support. A special thank-you goes to the Swiss Air Force who lent their support to the opening ceremony with their terrific nine-plane formation by the PC-7 aerobatic team and the helicopter «Super Puma Display Team». I would also like to thank the Swiss Aero Club AeCS for their financial support and the Swiss Aeromodelling Federation SMV as joint organisers.

My thanks are also due to all participating authorities, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation BAZL, the air traffic control authorities Skyguide, those in charge of the Emmen Military Airbase and the Cantonal and local authorities for the support in the run-up to the event and during these world championships. A special thank-you goes to the national and international sponsors, without whose commitment this European championship with the associated partnerships would have been impossible.
Make the most of the opportunity between 7 and 14 July 2007 to enjoy many delightful moments and interesting encounters with sportsmen and women here in Emmen Switzerland. Here's to the F3B World Championships 2007!
