Unchallenged Champions at the Regional Gliding Cup

He initially suspected that the rankings had been tampered with, Regional President Romeo Spaar explained at the awards ceremony for the 2019 Regio Gliding Cup. His suspicion is understandable, given that the top three positions remained unchanged from 2018. Once again, Nico Sauter (MG Büren), Eugen Baumann (MFV Brislach), and Benjamin Surber (MG Büren) came out on top. For the first time, four competitions were held: In addition to the Hagmaten Cup, the Schwarzbubenfliegen, and the Erlen Cup, the Breitfeld Cup was also held for the first time in 2019. For each participant, the three best results counted toward the final standings. Both Nico Sauter and Eugen Baumann each flew two

1,000-meter flights—truly a remarkable achievement.

The rankings list 50 participants; in 2018, there were 27. Nine participants took part in all four competitions, while 26 competed in only one. Regional President Spaar continues to hope for a fifth competition, preferably in the southern foothills of the Jura within the RMV Northwest region. This is not least in the interest of the geographical spread of the Regional Gliding Cup.
